The Project
Hallways are prime household real estate, they should be used functionally and efficiently. Rouka allows you to hide the ugly clutter from your hallway while beautifully displaying essential hallway objects like umbrellas and small children. Perfect for the non-minimalistic minimalist who tries to live with few possessions but secretly hoards their childhood birthday cards in shoe boxes under their bed.
Materials: polished brass, CNC cut plywood (stained + varnished), eco panel, and dowel, assembled using only an IKEA drill (don't recommend)
Lessons Learned: I am not a furniture maker. This was my one and only attempt at making furniture during my Industrial Design degree. I regret almost every day spent working on this project and wish that I had just taken a drawing class or a graphic design class instead.
Project Date: Completed in 2016 over 3 months as part of the Advance Prototyping course at the RMIT School of Industrial Design.
